The Charles County Courthouse Expansion is a 75,600 square feet, (3) level expansion to include lower level parking facilities, a detention facilities core, (4) courtrooms as well as state and local offices.  Building construction consists of steel framing with a masonry core and perimeter. Courtrooms and offices are inclusive of light gauge framing with drywall, decorative panel millwork and a combination of tile and drywall ceilings. Special finishes include courtroom & lobby millwork, terrazzo flooring, aluminum and glass lobby/stair rail systems, detention facilities and sheriff’s security controls. Construction was also inclusive of new roads, parking on grade and new storm & water infrastructure along with landscape pavers and furnishings. Upon completion this building will serve both the County and State Government to include District Court, Circuit Court, Land Records, Orphans Court and County Sheriff.
