Facchina Construction Company, Inc. was selected by the Department of the Navy to complete the first phase of the Greenside/Whiteside Apron.  This phase includes 65,000 SY of concrete apron with asphalt shoulders, 330,000 CY of dirt movement, 17,000 LF of drainage/underdrain , 54,600 SM of wick drain installation, 16,600 CM of sand drainage layer installation, 5.135 M of storm/slot drain/underdrain  pipes, and all lawns, fencing, lighting, and guard booths to build the complete facility.  Approximately 94,00 wick drains, 16,600 CM of sand drainage layer, and 95,600 CM of borrow were installed in 90 days to create a seven foot surcharge of overburden over the apron area in order to presettle and compact the area prior to installation of utilities and paving.

Facchina was initially proactive in redesigning the project during the procurement stage to increase its constructability and affordability.  Facchina has worked in partnership with the government during construction to make further changes to minimize the impact of major grade errors on the plans.  Facchina has also worked in partnership with the government to resolve a critical aircraft traffic maintenance issue caused by the two phase contracting of the apron project.
